Charlie Campbell is primarily a digital artist, working in video, installation, animation and generative photography. Though his principal tools are technological in nature, most of his work is an attempt to obscure the boundaries of digital and analog media. In both still and dynamic imagery, time and physicality are prevailing elements.

Born in Appalachia in the early 1980's, Charlie's earliest training was in the most readily available media (paint, charcoal, pastel) from a traditional perspective. While his exposure to digital resources wasn't until his late teens, he took to them with enthusiasm. The pairing of computer science with fine art in his undergraduate studies provided him roots with which to practice a flexibility in concept and practice across this media now apparent in his art.

After obtaining his BA from Transylvania University, he spent three years working in various occupational capacities, expanding his expertise in digital media as a graphic designer for print and web, programmer, videographer and motion graphics artist, technology journalist and computer support technician. His following years in graduate study at New York's Rochester Institute of Technology served as a fulcrum in his pursuit for a unification of technology and visual expression.

Recently relocated to Lexington KY, Charlie is currently wrapping up his MFA thesis work and is seeking both exhibition opportunities and employment in the arts in traditional or new media capacities.
